March 26, 2009 seems like just yesterday....but it was over 7 months ago! Say what!?! The time is flying by and with each passing day we learn something new about this little girl God placed in our lives.
Like for starters, she has a temper. And not a little one. She is very set in her ways and her preferences.
When eating dinner she prefers to hold her own spoon. If you take a spoon out of her hand, she lets out a fierce scream and starts beating her hands on her high chair. It takes her a good 90 seconds to calm down. Since that puts a bit of a damper on dinner, we use anywhere from 3-6 spoons for each of her meals. At any given point in time she has a spoon in each fist, I have a spoon to feed her with, and there's at least one on the floor. Every time I attempt to feed her a bite, she throws down one of the spoons she's holding and takes the one I have. And while there's never a bald man with an earring winking back at me from a sparkling clean reflection on my floor, I've convinced myself that when the 10 second rule is applied God only allows the safer and more easily digestible dirts to adhere to Heidi Sage's spoons. Delusional? Perhaps....but I digress.
Heidi Sage also loves to have me in her line of sight.... AT ALL TIMES. Part of me is really able to love and appreciate this, since Clinton was always about his Daddy and Pop. And part of me is exhausted, after feeling like I haven't a had much of a break in 7 months. She does okay if someone else is holding her and she can't see me for a bit, but if she actually watches me walk away she has a conniption.
And lately HS is not loving riding in the car, but Clinton is as bothered by the crying as I am so he has taken things into his own hands. He does this really loud, obnoxious fake laugh and it makes Prissy Pants laugh almost every time....sometimes she's too far gone for silly humor. Regardless, once Clinton gets started he really enjoys hearing himself. So sometimes I get to hear screaming and obnoxious laughter....fun.
And while Heidi Sage has a strong-willed temper, she also has the most beautiful, heart-melting laugh. She is SOOOOO ticklish, and has the cutest belly laugh every time we tickle her. She also likes to swing high, be thrown in the air (safely!), and have Clinton push her walker around the house like his scooter. I'm fearful/hopeful for another little daredevil. Fearful because it makes day to day life a bit wearisome, and hopeful because if I haven't mentioned it enough, I have BIG dreams of Disney vacays with our kids....and I love the big roller coasters!
Heidi Sage still loves her big brother. She's always looking for him around the house. But she cracks me up because anytime he gets close, her first reaction is to flinch and close her eyes. At least she knows what's coming!
As we continue to get to know our little angel, we are enjoying each and every day with her. She is full of love and snuggles and we all take turns getting as much of it from her as we can. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us...and the day after that...and the day after that...and....
With ribbons and bows,

That blog was too sweet, as is Little Miss Priss! You need to get the spoon thing on video! No worries about the 10 second rule... mine is more like 15! Besides... it builds immunities, or at least that is what I tell myself!
Courtney, had to laugh at the visual of spoons everywhere! :)
And WOW, you do have a list!
BTW, I didn't know if you knew I do all types of greeting cards and put others personal photos to cards for Christmas and whatever. Let me know if you're interested and we could talk about what we could do. No pressure, though. :)
oops..didn't sign in above.
